Let's talk KlarText!

Dr. Simon Binder completed his doctorate at the TU Dresden on the topic of “Force-compensated chemical sensors based on bisensitive hydrogels. ” Hydrogels, which include gummy bears, are delicious and have fascinating characteristics.

He has now been awarded the KlarText Prize for Science Communication in Chemistry for his article "Exemplary Gummy Bear.”

Competence on Board

Dr. Martin Zwanzig was elected to the UniWiND Advisory Board – the German University Association of Advanced Graduate Training.

Our sincere congratulations!

As the spokesman of the Postdoc Council of the Postdoc Center HZDR-TUD, he is already advocating the interests of postdocs at the TU Dresden. Moreover, he now continues his commitment as a member of the advisory board at UniWiND.

Dr. Zwanzig is a researcher at the Chair of Forest Biometrics and Systems Analysis at the TU Dresden on developing and analyzing simulation models, including the evolution of ecological systems.

Maria Reiche Welcome Grants

Support for Ukrainian female postdocs

The TU Dresden supports endangered and refugee young female scientists from Ukraine quickly and flexibly with the Maria Reiche Welcome Grants.
Chairs and research groups of the TU Dresden can host young female scientists from Ukraine for a research stay of up to twelve months. The funding is provided in the form of a full-time scholarship.

Proofreading Grants for Doctoral Candidates & Postdocs | GA

Any of the following print and online publications by doctoral candidates will be subsidized by the Graduate Academy:
  • specific chapters from the dissertation (publication or publisher's version)
  • essays (full paper)
  • abstracts
  • exposés
  • essays
  • reviews in journals
  • contributions to collected editions
  • conference contributions
  • publications in connection with exhibitions
Postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to apply for a proofreading grant for their third-party funding applications.

ESF Doctoral Fellowships | SMWK

The objective of the ESF doctoral fellowships is to fully exploit the individual educational potential of academic professionals, especially women, by expanding their competencies about a stable, green, sustainable, and digital economy in the Free State of Saxony. Furthermore, graduate students will have improved chances to enter the Saxon scientific and business community by gaining a doctoral degree.

Hochschulwettbewerb 2023 | Wissenschaft im Dialog

Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD) invites students, doctoral candidates, and early career researchers from all disciplines to present their research in the 2023 competition and to submit their communication ideas around the theme “Our Universe.”

The 15 best proposals will be rewarded with 10,000 Euros each to implement the ideas and with workshops and training courses on science communication, as well as admission to the alumni network of the university competition.

José Carreras-GPHO-Doctoral Scholarships

Up to 10 doctoral candidates are eligible to receive funding from the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation of 1,000 Euros per month for a period of one year to write their dissertations in the field of leukemia and related blood diseases in children and adolescents.

Roman Herzog Research Prize | Social Market Economy

The Roman Herzog Institute awards prizes to early career researchers whose dissertations or post-doctoral theses (Habilitation) address key regulatory issues of the 21st century.

Up to three prizes of 20,000, 10,000, and 5,000 Euros are awarded annually. Self-applications and proposals from professors, faculties, and institutes are possible.

Fulbright-Cottrell Award 2023

With its Fulbright-Cottrell Award recognizes outstanding scientists in the fields of chemistry, physics, and astronomy who strive to integrate their research and teaching activities, regarding them as interdependent. The Award provides funding of 63,000 Euro to successful German applicants for a three-year project that combines pioneering research and creative teaching within their respective fields.

The award also includes an additional 5,000 Euro for participation in the annual Cottrell Scholar Conference (next taking place in July 2023 in Tucson, Arizona).

Deutscher Studienpreis 2023 | Körber Foundation

The Körber Foundation awards the Deutschen Studienpreis (German Study Prize) to the best doctoral students in all disciplines every year. Above all, what matters is the social significance of the research.

Bertha Benz Award 2023 | Daimler and Benz Foundation

Young female engineers who have contributed to social progress with the results of their dissertations can be nominated by their scientific institutions. The prize is endowed with 10,000 Euros and honors – in the style of Bertha Benz – for their pioneering spirit, courage, and visionary character.

Since 2017, our annual prize for outstanding doctoral supervision has been awarded for raising awareness of the importance of good supervision.

TU Dresden is one of the first universities in Germany to establish such an award.

Every year, the numerous and impressive laudations prove to us anew that excellent work is already being done at TU Dresden.
