A warm welcome!

We warmly welcome our fantastic new colleagues – Jenny Neukirch and Heike Wiesner - who are supporting us with the organization of our services and events. Thus, both will also bring content and life to the following newsletter. We are looking forward to it!

I am Jenny Neukirch, 26 years old, and I have been working as a WHK in GA since December 2021. I studied elementary school teaching, completed my traineeship in the summer of 2021, and am now in the middle of planning my doctorate.

At the Graduate Academy, I support the Mentoring Program Academia of the Postdoc Center and various workshops of our qualification program.

My name is Heike Wiesner. From April 2022, I'm working as WHK in the GA, primarily in charge of the qualification program.

I studied art history at the TU Dresden, and my dissertation is presently in an “advanced stage.”

After two, let's say, “interesting” years, we return to campus with a bang, and this will be duly celebrated!

Snacks, fizzy drinks, beer, music, and a good-humored team are waiting for you.

We will present our Super Supervisor Award and marvel at the most beautiful doctoral hats.

There will also be a craft corner for the youngsters.

Come by, chat, laugh, and celebrate with us.

We look forward to a joyous summer evening with you!

Dr. Shreenanda Ghosh | Award winner of the DRESDEN EXCELLENCE AWARD | Photo: private
Excellent!
Award for Dr. Ghosh 

Congratulations to our GA alumna Dr. Shreenanda Ghosh for the DRESDEN EXCELLENCE AWARD, the science award of the state capital Dresden and the network “Dresden – City of Science.”

She was honored for her dissertation on “Manipulation of time reversal symmetry breaking superconductivity in Sr2RuO4 by uniaxial pressure”.

Since May 2022, Dr. Ghosh has been working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Quantum Matter of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University (USA).

Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg | Fellowships
 
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg awards fellowships to outstanding scientists at all career stages, starting at the postdoc level. Applications can be submitted in all academic disciplines. The fellowship duration is 3 to 10 months.

Application deadline: July 15, 2022

Else Kröner Fellowships 2022

The Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation awards up to six individual fellowships with a term of two years in the entire field of medicine for physicians who have completed their further training as specialists. The scholarship is endowed with a total of 330,000 euros. Of this total amount, up to 80 percent can be used to finance the individual's own position.

Dresden Leibniz Graduate School | Doctoral Fellowships

DLGS invites applications for Ph.D. fellowships for up to 3 years for early career researchers in spatial sustainability science. Topic: “Beyond 2030: Envisioning sustainable and resilient places for transformative change”.

Fellowship Programm for Postdocs and Junior Professors
 
Each year, the foundation awards twelve fellowships to selected postdocs or junior professors in a leadership role. The aim is to strengthen the autonomy and creativity of the next generation of scientists and to pave the way for researchers' careers during the productive phase following their doctorate. The funding amount per fellowship is 40,000 euros for two years.

Fulbright Germany | Doctoral Students Program

Fulbright Germany supports early-career researchers from Germany conducting a four- to six-month research project at a U.S. university or academic institution directly related to the academic dissertation they have already begun.
